
Prof. Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili
Professor Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili is an engineer, academician, economist and development professional. He has earned bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and masters in economics. He has supervised 11 doctoral and 24 masters students. Professor Uqaili has written 13 chapters in international books, 75 research papers in national and international research journals, and presented 56 research papers in national and international conferences. Professor Dr Uqaili has also edited four international books.
Professor Uqaili is currently working as vice chancellor, MUET. Previously, he held positions of pro vice chancellor, registrar and dean, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), MUET, Jamshoro. He is a member on editorial board of several research journals. He has held other positions in the different statutory forums of MUET, Jamshoro. Professor Uqaili facilitated the linkage of Mehran University with national and international public and private institutions, including universities in USA, UK, China, Japan, Malaysia and Turkey. Recognizing the contribution to higher education, he has been nominated on several academic forums in the country. He is recognized as a leading academician in Pakistan and abroad. During his tenure, MUET has ranked by HEC, Islamabad, as second best public engineering university of the country and number one public sector engineering university of the province (2015).
Professor Uqaili is involved in community services and he is on the board/trust of several nonprofit organizations, working on health, education, water, agriculture, community physical infrastructure etc. From undergrad to doctoral level he has been awarded with several distinctions and honours, which includes, nomination by President of Pakistan as Member, Pakistan Science Foundation, Chairman, Board of Directors, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), elected as Member Governing Body of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) 2012-2014 and 2015-18, Best Teacher Award from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (2005), awarded scholarship through countrywide open competition to pursue postgraduate studies abroad, by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan,1990. He has an exposure at country and world levels. He has visited UK, USA, Australia, Germany, Malaysia, Italy, China, Singapore, Netherlands, France, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Thailand, UAE and Turkey. He appears in talk shows of several TV channels on higher education and he has written several articles in a newspaper.

Prof. Dr Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry
Prof. Dr. B.S. Chowdhry is a Distinguished National Professor and the former Dean Faculty of Electrical Electronics and Computer Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan. His list of research publications crosses to over 60 in national and international journals, IEEE and ACM proceedings in the area of Intelligent Instrumentation, WSN, Embedded systems, simulation & Modelling, Internet Technologies, Smart Civil Structures. He is member of various professional bodies including: immediate past Chairman IEEE Karachi Section, Region10 Asia/Pacific, Fellow IEP, Fellow IEEEP, Senior Member IEEE Inc. (USA), SM ACM Inc. (USA). He organized several International Conferences including “IMTIC08”, “IMTIC12”, “IMTIC13”, “IMTIC15”, “IMTIC18”, “WSN4DC13”, “IEEE SCONEST”, “IEEE PSGWC13”, and track chair in “Global Wireless Summit (GWS 2014), and Chief Organizer and Co-Chair GCWOC’16, GCWOC’17 in Malaga Spain. In 2015, he also organized two weeks ICTP/UNESCO Regional workshop on “FPGA Based Instrumentation Systems”, fully funded by The Abdus Salam ICTP/ UNESCO first time in Pakistan in which scientist from 27 regional countries were invited for participation.

Prof. Dr Tanweer Hussain

Prof. Dr. Tanweer Hussain has vast field and research experience. He has served in national and multinational industries; including polypropylene, oil & gas, and Jet-Engine Manufacturer industries. During the start of His career He joined as maintenance Engineer at Dewan Sugar Mills (Polypropylene Division), later He joined as Lead Engineer in Total Waste Management Alliance (a contractor of ENI at Bhit gas field, Jamshoro). Dr. Hussain also possess rich teaching and research experience in one of the leading Engineering University of Pakistan. He is currently serving as Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. Dr. Hussain received his B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering, Postgraduate Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering from Mehran UET, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Nottingham, UK. He is specialist in design, modelling and analysis of mechanical assemblies, stochastic and uncertainty analysis of mechanical system. In general, this research involves renewable energy, controlling variation propagations in Aero-engine assembly and Probabilistic/stochastic analysis of assembly tolerances. Dr. Hussain has completed his PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2012. During His Ph.D. He was involved in Research projects in collaboration with Rolls Royce UK for aeroengine assembly design. He has more than three dozen research publication in high repute research journals and conferences.

Prof. Dr Khan Mohammad Brohi

Dr. Khan Mohammad Brohi received his B.E from department of mechanical engineering, MUET Jamshoro in 1988 with a Gold medal. He received his M.E and PhD from Nagoya University, Japan in 2000 and 2003 respectively. In his doctoral dissertation, He explored applications of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in the road transport in developing countries taking Pakistan as a case study. He also conducted CO2 emission analysis of for designing emission reduction strategies for Karachi city. He was awarded with Certificate of Excellence for presenting his research at an international conference in Japan. He also has a vast field research experience where He uses CGE and SEA for improved environment friendly road projects. He has authored and co-authored about 50 publications in Top international and national journals, conferences and proceedings. His work revolves around sustainable and environment friendly architecture and road networks, health and safety management and environmental engineering. He has served MUET in various capacities during his 30+ years of academic career. Currently, He is serving as DEAN faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Dr. Tayab Memon

Dr. Tayab Memon received a BE (Hons) Electronics Engineering (First Class) and a PG Diploma Telecommunication and Control Engineering (First Class) from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan, in 2003 and 2006 respectively. He received PhD from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Melbourne, Australia in 2012. His research interests include embedded systems, FPGA, condition monitoring systems, and fault detection and identification systems. He has published more than 35 research articles in highly reputed refereed international journals/ conferences that are further cited and extended by leading scientists, press of prominent universities. Being HEC approved supervisor, currently 3 PhD and 5 ME/MPhil students and more than 20 ME/MPhil students have graduated in his supervision/co- supervision under the umbrella of signal processing and embedded systems research group. He is serving as Chairman Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran UET Jamshoro. He is recipient of the NRPU 2017-2018 discovery project No. 8521. He is reviewer for IET Signal Processing, Journal of Signal Processing Systems, MUET Research Journal, FPT’17, MECO’17, ICAEESE’16, ICCEI’16, IMTIC’15, and IMTIC’13. He served as Chief Organizer for the first ever technical workshop (7th- 18th Dec, 2015) in collaboration with the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy titled ‘Asian Regional School on FPGA Design for Scientific Instrumentation’. He has also delivered several invited talks at various universities and conferences.

Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Kalwar

Dr. Imtiaz Hussain received his B.E in Electronic Engineering and postgraduate diploma in Telecommunication and Control in 2004 and 2006 respectively from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan. He completed his PhD at School of Computing science and Engineering University of Salford, United Kingdom. During the year 2005 he worked as an instrumentation engineer at Thatta Cement Factory and Al-Abbas Distillation plant. He joined Electronic engineering department at Mehran University as a lab-lecturer in 2005 and served Mehran University as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Co-Director Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) till August 2017. He is working as an associate professor at DHA Suffa University Karachi and serving as Head of Department Electrical Engineering since February 2018. His current research interests include advanced control and identification and intelligent control systems mainly applied in automotive applications. He has published over four dozen research papers in international journals and conferences and was the recipient of the UK’s second best young researcher in 2012. The award was given by the Railway Division of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE UK)

Dr. Jawaid Daudpoto

Dr. Jawaid Daudpoto graduated in Mechanical Engineering (with distinction) and earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Specializing in Mechatronics) from the University of Leeds, U.K. in 2012. He served NED UET Karachi as a lecturer between 1999-2001. Currently, he is a Professor in the Mechatronic Engineering program of MUET. He was founding Incharge of the Mechatronics lab. at MUET. He played a lead role to launch Mechatronic Engineering at MUET at undergraduate, master and Ph.D. levels. Mehran University is the first and only public sector University in Sindh offering a multi-disciplinary undergraduate Mechatronic Engineering program. Dr. Daudpoto is HEC approved supervisor and has served as a member of HEC’s NCRC on Mechatronic Engineering. In his Ph.D. research, he investigated the application of shape memory alloy (a smart material) actuator for a robotic finger. His post Ph.D. research encompasses synergistic integration of mechanical, electronic, and computer science resulting in interesting multidisciplinary projects. His projects have been funded by IGNITE NIGRI. He was the founder of LabVIEW academy at MUET. He was also the founding faculty advisor of IEEE’s Robotic and Automation Society (RAS) Student Branch Section at MUET. He received overseas funding for activities of this section. He was awarded Rs. 1 Million for the development of Mechatronics Lab. under HEC’s Institutional Strengthening scheme in 2015. He has organized student project and poster competitions. He is the author of more than 3 dozens of research papers, a book chapter, and poster publications. He has supervised projects related to Condition monitoring of motors, Measurement systems, and miniature robotics. His current research comprises assistive robotics for autistic children and soft robotics.

Prof. Dr Engr Ahmed Mudassir Khan

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ahmed Muddassir Khan has completed his early education from prestigious institutes of Pakistan with distinctions. He completed B.E. (Electronics) from Mehran University Jamshoro in 2003, M.Engg. (Telecommunication) from NED University, Karachi in 2008 and MBA from Federal Urdu University, Karachi. He completed his PhD from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication (BUPT), Beijing, China in 2013 with several research publications in esteemed international research journals. He started his professional career as a Telecom Engineer in Pakistan’s leading Telecom organization (PTCL) and gained vast field and research experience in high capacity optical networks. He served around 10 Years on various international telecom projects such as SMW3, SMW4 and IMEWE and backhaul related to submarine and landline optical fiber communication system for the installation, testing and commissioning and O&M of Alcatel, Fujitsu, Ciena, ZTE and Huawei SDH and WDM systems. Currently he is serving as a Professor and Dean FEST (Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology), Indus University, Karachi. He also has other important academic role and responsibilities in Indus University such as Chair BOF, member of BOS, R&D Committee, BASR, Academic Council, and BoG. He is an HEC approved PhD supervisor and served as PEC program evaluator. He has been awarded with Best University teacher award (BUTA) by HEC in 2018. He is also member of different national and internal societies and speaker in different research forums. He served as an organizing committee and technical Co-chair in IEEE ICIEECT 2017 and TPC members in several conferences such as KSSC-14, ICIEECT 2017, IEEC 2017, RTCSE, ICIEECT and APICEE conferences. He also has successfully supervised several ICT R&D funded projects in emerging areas in electrical and communication technologies related to health monitoring, smart sensing and hybrid transports. His core research areas are Optical Communication, DWDM, GPON, Hybrid WDM/TDM-PON, Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Networks, Advanced Modulation Formats and Next Generation Passive Optical Networks (NGPON).

Dr. Shakil Ahmed Shaikh

Dr. Shakil Ahmed Shaikh received a Ph.D. degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management from Nottingham University, UK, specialized in the field of Human Factors Engineering (also known as Ergonomics) while looking at the interaction between physical and cognitive demands in assembly operations. During his Ph.D. research, he remained involved in a European-funded project ManuVAR (Manual Support System throughout the complete life cycle using Virtual and Augmented Reality). His work as co-author was published in a book chapter in Advances in Occupational, Social, and Organizational Ergonomics, edited by Gavriel Salvendy and Waldemar Karwowski. Publications in National / International Conferences and Journals. He has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in a variety of fields; Lean manufacturing, Value Stream mapping, Ergonomics, Cloud Manufacturing, triangular integration of the Lean-Green-Six Sigma approach for sustainable development of SMEs, and assessing working conditions.

Engr Muhammad Zakir Shaikh is currently a PhD Scholar and doing research on Fault Diagnosis of Rail Wheel Profile via Deep Learning. He is working as a Lecturer and Business Development manager at National Center for Robotics and Automation-Condition Monitoring Systems Lab in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology,Jamshoro. He is also working as President QS World Merit Pakistan to implement Sustainable Development Goals. He has represented Pakistan and Mehran University at United Nation’s HQ New York and won International Competition of “I am a Mover, Shaker and Change-Maker”. Besides that, he has already worked as a Research Associate on project titled "Design and Implementation of Intelligent Energy Efficient Industrial Process Control System Using Conveyor Belts via Robotic Arm", a Fully Funded Project of Pakistan Science Foundation. He has been declared as the Star Laureate 2011 for the outstanding achievements in the field of Science and Technology by South Asian Publications. He has broken the historic record by getting two gold medals in 27 th IEEEP All Pakistan Students Seminar foe getting 1 st position in one research paper and second position in the other paper. He has received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Masters degree in Electronic Systems Engineering in 2013 and 2015 respectively from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.

Engr. Ali Akbar Shah is currently a PhD Scholar in Electronics Engineering and is doing research on railway track condition monitoring for almost 3 years now. He has done ME in Mechatronics Engineering and BE in Electronics Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. He is currently working as a Research Associate/Design Engineer at National Center for Robotics and Automation-Condition Monitoring Systems Lab in Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. He is also working as Member of UIC’s Harmotrack Project to implement standards of international railway association in Pakistan, a member of European Union’s Central Project and Student Advisor of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Student Branch. He has represented Pakistan and Mehran University at several national and international platforms. Besides that, he has already worked as a lecturer in Computer Science Department of SZABIST, Hyderabad. He has over 22 publications and 9 of those publications are related to railway track condition monitoring. With his latest publication published in 9.95 Impact Factor IEEE’s Journal of Internet of Things. His specializations are railway track surface monitoring, rolling stock condition monitoring, road condition monitoring, CAD designing, Robotics and Automation, and bridge condition monitoring. He has currently is in process of filing 2 patents in his domain of specialization.
